I have been in clinical practice serving kids, adolescents, families and individuals for over 25 years. I work collaboratively with a very diverse population of people and enjoy watching them grow through therapy. I serve kids, adolescents and their families with behavioral and emotional struggles. I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief, socialization issues, life changes, relationship issues, and behavioral issues. I work with kids and young adults coping with issues related to being on the Autism Spectrum. I am a true social worker who takes a person centered approach to treatment. I am skilled in the use of Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Parenting Skills Building, Social Skills Building, Play Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and Multi-theoretical Family Therapy. As well, I provide clinicians with clinical supervision for state licensure in Missouri and Kansas.
I earned a Bachelors in Social Welfare from the University of Kansas. I worked as a house parent and in child protective services. I earned my Masters in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia focusing on mental health treatment. I participated in an internship at Menninger's at Topeka in the children's department. I continue to educate myself through self study and continuing education.
I enjoy working collaboratively with my clients towards their goals. I believe building a mutually trusting relationship is key to gaining a better understanding of the issues presented and finding solutions to improve clients' lives. I believe building that trust involves empathic listening and open and honest dialogue about issues and concerns.
